Services - Porcelain Onlay/Inlays

Porcelain Onlay/InlaysAt Dysart dental we do not use silver/mercury fillings. Many alternatives to mercury fillings are now available and we offer restoration with composite resins (white fillings) and porcelain inlay and onlays should the lack of natural tooth structure make them the treatment of choice.

We offer both laboratory processed and one appointment CEREC porcelain fillings, also known as inlays or onlays. These “fillings” allow Dr. Thomas to repair teeth that need protection and restoration but the have lost too much of their natural tooth structure to be repaired with white fillings.

Porcelain inlays/onlays can be used to restore cavities and decaying teeth or to replace any broken or unsightly mercury fillings you already have. They are custom fabricated and have a very precise fit for optimized durability and appearance, and have the strength to be of service for many years. If it is determined that your tooth can be restored with the one appointment CEREC inlay/onlay the tooth will be prepared and the porcelain filling will be generated utilizing the latest 3-D technology with computer designed and computer generated porcelain restorations made right in the office. This eliminates the need to take impressions and the second delivery appointment, saving you time.

Should Dr. Thomas determine that your restoration will be laboratory fabricated; an impression of the teeth that need inlays/onlays will be taken. Using the mold obtained, the dental laboratory will be able to create custom-fitted porcelain restorations that can be permanently bonded to your teeth in approximately two to three weeks.

We feel porcelain fillings are the most esthetic way for you to restore teeth requiring more support then white resin fillings offer but not yet requiring a full crown.

Please feel free to give us a call and set up your initial cosmetic consultation. We are here to help answer any questions we can regard to restoring your beautiful and healthy smile.
